went out with Dave Houston yesterday to test the new rod holder, welded to the stern of his boat. We fished in the Missouri River, June the 28th. The time was right for catching Flathead catfish! We launched from the Hwy. 54 Bridge access and motored up river to Cedar Creek. The baits had not been set thirty minutes, when we caught the first fish. Several hours past and a total of three nice fish were caught. Then at dusk a rod at the rear of the boat was pulled down with tremendous force! With difficulty I removed the rod from the holder and felt the strength of a brute on the other end. I did not battle for long, because the thirty pound line snapped. Below the line was a wire leader number seven circle hook and five inch bait fish swallowed by a very large fish that got away. The quest for such a river monster continues.
P.S.
Dave,
You asked if I would write about June 28 adventure. I am stiil not sure what to say about the big one that got away, I think my best reply is to just say: we will continue this story!
