My Sunday Note
Dear God.
I have been crossing the Missouri River for a few decades, I reflect as I drive across the bridge about my fishing adventures on the river. It is October, 6, 2013, the government is shutdown, but as a friend said; “The God stuff still works, the Missouri river still flowing, I know the fish are surviving in spite of the stuff humans have put in the river. Dramatized stories about the ripple effect of government shutdown across the land are on the Internet. I will not see any of the US Shutdown Soap Opera on television because I got rid of TV some time ago. The Cardinals will be in the play offs, I will listen to Mike Shannon on the radio the way I did with my grandfather. October is here, and the artist F. Scott Fitzgerald said - “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”
Dear God my days have been rewarding, working with college students in online classes, trying to communicate the basics of writing about art with online students, meeting some of them like Derrick and helping them discover more about art! Some students were amazed I would make prints from actual fish. God, your art is the greatest. The creatures you made are so amazing! I am energized by your creation. My art is a feeble tribute to you! It is too much to think about, but not too much to pray about when I paint.
Today was great being with friends and cooking fish for several of them. I am a good tired tonight, and it is good to be returning home, I am crossing over again.
