With my students, I have been creating “Personal Identity Circles” as scroll art forms. Originally the scroll was a way to impart wisdom, knowledge and lessons to be transported and presented as gifts. Scrolls have an ancient origin and have existed long before books. I believe God directed my life in a special way when I went back to graduate school to earn the MFA degree in drawing and painting. The first professor I studied with was visiting the University of Missouri, made possible of her receiving a Fulbright teaching award. I gained much confidence, from her, so that I too would become a teacher. I learned the art canons of Chinese painting from 樵. Two decades later I realize that the canons provide direction to be a better artist, but now I realize that “Life is Art “and I believe that because I believe in Christ. His enduring Spirit will be the center of many life cycles.
The canons for art are shown on the outer circle. The inner circle reminds me how with Christ, “Life is Art”.
